New! Carba-Nada™. Now you can have your pasta and eat it, too!

Whitmore Lake, MI – April 30, 2004- Al Dente’s Carba-Nada™ proves that "not all reduced-carb pastas are created equal" with their introduction of three great tasting products that have 75% less carbs than traditional fettuccine.

Monique and Dennis Deschaine, founders of Al Dente, Inc, refused to jump on the low-carb bandwagon until all focus groups assured them that the taste and texture of Carba-Nada™ fettuccine was superior to other low-carb pastas on the market. After all, since 1981, Al Dente’s reputation has been based on its famous "tender but firm" texture that tastes just like home made.

Al Dente’s new Carba-Nada™ was first sampled to rave reviews at the Fancy Food Show in San Francisco on January 18, 2004. The official roll-out to stores around the country began on March 15. Since that time the positive feedback from stores and customers has been phenomenal.

The new line includes Roasted Garlic Fettuccine, Lemon Pepper Fettuccine and Egg Fettuccine. By substituting high-protein soy flour, wheat gluten and fiber for some of the semolina, Al Dente has succeeded in bringing the total carbohydrate count down to 9 net grams of carbs per 2 oz of cooked pasta.

Pasta lovers everywhere will be thrilled with the taste and texture of these new pastas and will wonder how Al Dente has succeeded in making a great tasting, low-carb pasta when others have failed. Because Al Dente, Inc. is one of the few pasta companies in the country to sheet rather than extrude the dough, they are able to achieve a texture that is more similar to traditional fresh egg pasta. This method, along with the great, all-natural flavors, give a real taste treat to the millions of people who do not want to give up pasta even though they are on low-carb diets.

"It was only after customers begged us to make a low carb pasta that we even started experimenting," says Monique Deschaine. "We had assumed that if it was possible to make a good one, it would have already been done. This is where being a small company, making pasta the old-fashioned, labor-intensive way, has made a significant difference in the quality of the product."

Al Dente Carba-Nada™ Pasta is beautifully packaged in 10 ounce, clear bags with eye-catching graphics and the trademark checkered tape at the top.
